The Mental Welfare Commission is recruiting to its executive director (medical) role.
The Commission is seeking an experienced senior psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the organisation.
Colin McKay, chief executive at the Mental Welfare Commission, said:
'In March 2019 we welcomed the government's announcement on the review of the Mental Health Act which we, among others, have been promoting for some time. We believe that Scotland has the opportunity to regain its position as a world leader in progressive, rights based mental health law and treatment.
'At the same time, services face major resource challenges, and the experience of people with mental illness and their families/carers can often be a negative one.
'The Commission is a vital safeguard, which aims to play a leading role in promoting a society where people with mental illness, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions are treated fairly, have their rights respected, and have appropriate support to live the life of their choice.
'The person we are seeking for this vacancy will take a key position in the organisation to help us drive forward these ambitions.'
