Suicidal feelings

If you are having thoughts of suicide, please talk to someone.

If you are worried that someone is suicidal, ask them. Most people who attempt suicide do not want to die, they just don't feel able to cope with the pain of life.

If you're having suicidal feelings

You can contact:

  • Breathing Space on 0800 838587 (phone line open 6pm to 2am Monday to Thursday; and from 6pm Friday until 6am Monday) or
  • Samaritans on 116 123 (phone line open 24 hours a day).

You can also talk to your GP or contact the NHS24 Mental Health Hub by calling NHS24 on 111. The Mental Health Hub is open 24 hours a day.

You may also want to hear about other people's experiences of surviving suicidal thoughts. NHS inform have produced these videos where you can hear from people who have been there and come out the other side.
