Today the Mental Welfare Commission congratulates Dr Arun Chopra, the Commission’s executive director (medical), who is due to receive the President’s Medal from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Each year, the medals are awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the profession.

Sandy Riddell, chair of the Board and Julie Paterson, CEO of the Mental Welfare Commission said:

On behalf of his colleagues and Board members at the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland, we congratulate him on this prestigious accolade acknowledging his work across the field of mental health”.

Dr Chopra will receive the medal later this year at a ceremony in London, after it was announced at the College’s International Congress held in Edinburgh on 19 June 2024.
